With Morrisby Higher your students will gain access to the Personal Statement Builder. They will be able to request a review of their personal statements and you can easily track progress and go back and forth with the students until you are both happy with the final versions.
First, make sure that the members of staff who will be reviewing personal statements have this ticked in your Settings > Staff & Advisers:
To add the permission to review personal statements click on the name and toggle the Personal statement option so that it is green:
To get started ask your students to log in to Morrisby and start their Personal Statement Builder. They will find it directly on their homepage in the Progress tile:
Once students click on Personal Statement they will be taken to the following page, where they can access further information about what the personal statement is, they can 'Start' the builder or 'Skip' it if they want to write it as plain text:
If they decide to use the builder, Morrisby will take them through the individual sections and provide suggestions on what should be included in each paragraph. They will also see a character count to make sure they stay within the limit:
Students can navigate with the 'Back' and 'Next' buttons to go through their answers, once they finish all the sections they will see this window:
If the student is happy with the result and click 'Complete Builder', they will be able to request a review or restart the builder to make further changes:
Once they select 'Request Review' they will get a pop-up window with a dropdown where all the teachers who can review personal statements are listed. The student will choose a teacher and click 'Request Review', Morrisby will then let the student know that the selected teacher was notified:
When the teacher logs in to Morrisby Manager, they will see they have a new task. You can also set up notifications to go out directly to the staff email, staff can also receive a weekly summary of their tasks. This can be set up in Settings > Notifications. See the window below with one new task:
There is no need to look the students up in the list of Students, tasks can be completed directly in the 'Tasks' section, simply click on 'Complete Task' and you will be presented with the following window, click 'Edit' to start making changes:
You will have the option to make changes directly in the text, you can also highlight a section of the text and add a comment. Once you are happy with the changes and comments, click 'Done' and 'OK'. All versions of the personal statement will be stored in Morrisby and you can restore the previous versions if needed:
Your students will then see that changes were made, and they will be able to compare the latest version with your suggestions. Sections with comments will be highlighted in yellow, any changes that were made directly to the text will be highlighted in green. Students can use the 'Highlight changes' button to see or hide the green highlights, they can also click on the text bubble button to see your comments. Once they review the changes, they can either 'Accept' or 'Reject':
If the student selects 'Accept Changes' they will be then able to continue working on the new updated version. Once they make further changes they will be able to request a review again:
If they reject the changes they will be able to add a reason why. This will be visible in Morrsiby Manager so that the teacher knows why the changes were rejected by the student:
Each review request creates a new task and you can go back and forth with the student until you are happy with the final version. Below you can see what it looks like when student Accepts or Rejects your changes, including the reason for rejection. Once you are happy with the personal statement, toggle 'Approved':
When your students next log in to Morrisby, they will see that their personal statement was approved:
Once the personal statement is approved the student cannot make any further changes, unless the teacher goes back and toggles the 'Approved' back to 'No'. The final personal statement can be then copied directly from Morrisby in the UCAS format:
